It started in the military service in 8200 and the jobs I've done afterwards.
As many others, I wanted to have a job that matter, that helps someone.
At the same time I volunteered at a special animal shelter called Shelter Diary which operates under Rishon Loves Animals R.A.
For many weekends I helped with whatever was needed in the shelter house, of course the the connection between those needs and my main profession was almost ZERO.
For those kind of associations, every day is a struggle, both physically and financially, raising continuous funds is usually a far fetched dream.
This is when I came up with an idea about how to connect those two lives.
I've created a workshop in the field of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and shifted the proceeds from the participants to be a donation for the shelter house, that simple.
The simplicity of it enabled to create a self sustained community of shared scientific and technological knowledge while donating all its proceeds to different non-profit organisations in need.
"We humans, animals and nature are all one, therefore the solidarity and social responsibility of each one of us is a necessity in order to reach a better harmony between all entities. This optimistic relationship can be driven from compassion, care, and love.
With sophistication, creativity and innovation, everyone has something to contribute to this planet." [Ron Weiner]
Expanding the circle of responsibility so that more people will take part in improving the environmental, personal and collective fingerprint. Using the skill sets and the volume of community, we can effectively assist nonprofit organisations which are promoting some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Many people in the tech sector are looking to give back but donโt necessarily have the time to volunteer at organizations. Thatโs where Give&Tech founder Ron Weiner stepped into the picture. He had spent two years volunteering at a local animal shelter, but saw that aside from donating his time, the shelter needed financial support as well, and thatโs how Give&Tech was born. Weiner decided to combine his two passions - working in the high tech industry as a data analyst and giving back to the community while also contributing to those who are less fortunate, by donating to a variety of NGOs.
Give&Tech provides high tech courses for those in the sector looking to enrich their knowledge, and then donates the proceeds of those efforts to NGOs who need financial support, and offer a voice to an important cause that helps society, benefiting both sides.
Ron Weiner loves animals. The 28-year-old Israeli computer programmer and data scientist is a regular volunteer at Rishon Loves Animals, a pet adoption service for stray dogs and cats in the Tel Aviv suburb of Rishon LeZion.
When the animal shelter needed monetary support as well, Weiner wasnโt in a position to help financially.
So, he did the next best thing and started a venture that allows those in the high-tech industry to help nonprofit organizations by doing what they do best: sharing knowledge about their professions.
Give&Tech organizes topics taught by industry experts, topics ranging from user interface design, to neural networks, AI, data mining, and product management. All fees are then donated to Israeli nonprofits.
